Bookmarks

Press B. The moment is saved.

A bookmark is a single moment: the time, a frame of the video and, if you like, a line about why it mattered. It sits on the progress bar, so the video becomes its own index.

Cellular respiration, explained | Lecture 7

Cell Club · 1.2M views

A YouTube video with the extension's bookmark ticks and clip bands on its progress bar, and its panel listing them. Selecting one jumps the video there and shows its note; a clip plays on a loop.

Clips

Clip just the part that matters.

A clip is a stretch of a video, from five seconds to the whole thing. Click it in the panel and it plays on repeat: learn the riff, drill the step, catch the line you keep missing.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Anything else? The guides go into more detail.

Can you bookmark a specific moment in a YouTube video?

Not with YouTube alone — Watch Later and playlists only save whole videos. YTMark adds a per-moment layer: press B and the exact timestamp is saved against that video, with a thumbnail of the frame.

How do I clip a YouTube video?

With YTMark installed, press X on any video in Chrome or Firefox, or click the scissors in the player's controls. A 30-second clip starts where you are and loops; drag its ends to trim it, then press Enter to save. The link icon next to the clip copies a share link.

What happened to YouTube's Clip button?

YouTube stopped letting viewers make new Clips on April 17, 2026; clips made before then still play. YTMark does the same job from a browser extension — pick a stretch, save it, share a link — without the old 60-second limit.

Can someone watch a clip I share without an account?

Yes. A clip link opens a web page that plays the clip in any browser, phones included. They don't need YTMark, an account or the extension.

How long can a clip be?

Anything from 5 seconds to the whole video. A new clip starts at 30 seconds, and you drag its ends to fit.

Does it work on any YouTube video?

Bookmarks work on any youtube.com/watch page, and clips on any video at least 5 seconds long, though not on a stream while it is still live. If an uploader has turned off embedding, a shared clip's page can't play it and links to the video on YouTube instead.

Do my bookmarks and clips sync between devices?

Yes. Everything is stored against your account, so signing in on another computer brings your whole library with you, and your clip feed plays on any device you sign in on, phones included.

Is it free?

There is a free plan that covers 3 videos with unlimited bookmarks and clips on each, share links included, and needs no card. Pro is €1.99 a month or €18.99 a year for unlimited videos.

Is this made by YouTube?

No. YTMark is an independent browser extension and is not affiliated with YouTube or Google.
